The Homebuyer Credit has been extended!
First time homebuyers now have until April 30, 2010 to enter into a purchase contract, and until June 30th to close in order to be eligible for the up to $8,000 tax credit. There’s also a new addition--those having lived in their primary residence for the past five years are eligible for up to a $6,500 credit. The credit phases out for those individuals earning over $125,000 annually and joint filers over $225,000. Meanwhile, mortgage rates, while still very competitive, are inching over 5%, and home prices seem to be stabilizing. What this all means is there are still great values to be had if you act now.
